I’m a sort of Frankensteinian creature cobbled together from a hodgepodge of experiences that include journalism, executive marketing, security, operations leadership, all sorts of tech, and any form of writing you can imagine. I’ve directly led efforts in marketing and inbound content strategy that have produced dramatic increases in growth, expansion, global brand awareness, engagement, and client accounts. In many instances, we ghostwrite thought-leadership content for c-levels and influencers. You've probably read our stuff without knowing we produced it.
I regularly author articles, ebooks, editorials, blogs, proposals, marketing plans, copy, web content, legal policies, business strategies, ad campaigns, clever notes, screeds, poems and stories (yeah, a client requests themed content for holidays), keynote speeches, investment plans, big nasty RFPs and proposals, video scripts, podcasts, pillar pages/topic clusters, webinars, creative sales assets, buyer personas, profiles, email nurture campaigns, premium content, schema, security protocols, regulatory compliance documents, and complex data analyses.
I’ve led staffs of 5 to 160 professionals, from tiny little startups to Fortune-ranked companies.
Marley Shimamura studied fashion and graduated with a specific emphasis on the marketing and business side of the industry. She has direct retail experience at major organizations such as Nordstrom. She knows the brands, the consumer behaviors, the voice of the customer, and what works or doesn’t. She has held senior management positions in other businesses, with demonstrated expertise in training, HR, creative marketing, operations, supply chain engagement and management, and complex programs involving multiple stakeholders, executives, personnel, and vendors.
Marley creates social media that people want to read and engage with. She designs images and assets that people want to see. Even if she's speaking in the voice of your company's personality, it's with authenticity and charm and just the right bit of sass and humor. Unless you're a really boring, starched collar type of outfit. Then she can totally strip all the personality and wit away, still leaving you with authenticity and content your customers will care about. If there's something she doesn't know or isn't sure of, you can bet she'll research it relentlessly until she's an expert -- usually, the next day.
Mignon, or "Mini" to most of us, is the very heart and soul of the organization. Nothing gets done without his sad little pug eyes reviewing the work, while we wait for a happy bark of approval, wheezing sniffles of uncertainty, or an almost tubercular grunt of dissent. We are currently in the process of transferring his essence into a bot that our customers can talk with.
You'd be surprised just how much work the three of us can crank out. I mean, to the point of starting a project doing nothing more than blogs, copy, and social media only to find ourselves handling operations policy, legal reviews, RFPs, HR advice, and a bunch of data science. But sometimes, we're just not enough. That's why we partner closely with teams such as Hutomaton LLC, who work with some of the best designers in the world to make websites and apps. We also know a few folks in the photography and video space, along with others. So if more hands are called for on deck, we can still keep the ship sailing.
